Maritime Surveillance & Maritime Domain Awareness (MDA)
The International Maritime Organization (IMO) International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code requires that all vessels entering Territorial Waters shall be positively identified by visual means.
Our land based EOα™ (EOAlpha) System provides this visual identification capability for Territorial Waters and the ship borne version of EOα™ extends the capability out to the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
The land based EOα™ (EOAlpha) System consists of a chain of camera sites connected to radars and IMO Automatic Identification System (AIS) receivers covering the water traffic lanes, so that images of vessels transiting the Territorial Waters will be captured when they pass one or more of these camera sites.
The automated Vessel Identification function which compares the images captured with a Reference Picture Database (RPD) reduces the time the operator needs to identify a vessel and minimizes operator workload for the identification task.
EOα™ includes a Vessel Dimension Measurement function to determine the vessel’s dimensions – length, width and, especially, height above water (air draft).
